its such a bizarre experience to have christmas in a place that doesn't see snow. if it weren't for the decor and presents, it would just be like being on holiday in london with my sister. however, we're enjoying ourselves and that's really all that matters.
i miss the family at home though. immediate and extended.
yesterday was a low key day and i think today will be even more low key. all we really did yesterday was go see wicked, but it was funny. as we were waiting outside before we had to go in, i saw the house manager come out and look all important but i recognized that look. someone famous was about to pull up. and guaranteed, i look behind me and up comes a car with people who honestly believe they are important beyond their little sphere.
anyhoo, for just under a minute, i got to watch russell brand. in fact, he had to stand beside me for a whole 10 seconds. he's shorter than i thought. his rats nest hair makes him seem taller i think. my fave part is that he looks the same everytime i see him. tight leather pants, a face in need of a shave, and that he is in desperate need of a shower, etc. and maybe he might have been a touch disappointed because nobody cared that he was there, or maybe it was that nobody knew who he was.
and it occurred to me, how desperate celebs are for the attention. its something you always know, but kind of sneaks up on you time and time again.
had he showed up in a regular car, with regular clothes, there would have been no need for the security bit. but they want the security bit. that makes him a loser (well, all of them really). its like that woody allen movie called celebrity. its amazing who it is we choose to celebrate. so really, i choose to celebrate no one but my family and friends today. to me, their the real celebs.
love you and merry christmas to you all.
oh, and i've been watching lipstick jungle...not too shabby. too bad its been cancelled.
merry christmas, gio. but a much happier boxing day ;)
