crushing on john terry

the view from my seat

it is almost 7 pm and i am ready for bed.

the new job is mentally exhausting, so much so that i'm brain dead when i get home and go to bed every night. so on friday, when tanya said 'let's go for a beer - we need one', i readily agreed. we were soon joined by 5 others from work, and what ensued was a drinking extravaganza of the like i hadn't had in a long while. i'm talking, the theatre years...or at least the big camping trip with the malibu folks at jarvis bay when we nearly got kicked out of the park.

i started with some leffe, followed by some gin and tonics, followed by some jager bombs, and ending with a black sambuca. i was still drunk when i got up this morning, and after about 30 minutes, the headache of migrain proportions hit me like a ton of bricks. my dilemma...i had a chelsea game to get to in 3 hours time. so i slept for 2, hoping i'd be ok when i got up.

thankfully, i was able enough to get up, walk to the tube and get to stamford bridge without vomitting. the brain was adequately pickled with ibuprofen.

i met up with some friends at the game and grabbed my 3 staples. a greasy cheese burger with fried onions and ketchup, a white coffee and a litre of water. i must have looked a mess because when i went up to my gate, the usher took my ticket, walked me to my seat, and then held it down for me so i could sit down. i thanked him profusely. others around me wondered who i was to get such posh treatment. if they only knew.

the game against wigan was a good game for the most part. unlike last time where i sat with the suits, this time, i sat with the hard core fans. the ones behind petr cech before every game. the roudies. they were loud before the game even started.

first cech came out to warm out and i was so close i could tell he had a great ass. so i text bananas about it right away. :)

and what ensued was a nail biter. now, for some god forsaken reason that i am not going to explain to you - its bad enough that i have to admit it to bananas, but my latest chelsea obsession is john terry. not joe cole. not michael ballak...JOHN TERRY! yet he showed why he's such a man of character real quickly...coming up to the matthew harding stand (where i was sitting) and gave us some applause...then later walked out with the kiddies. he's a man of character, that terry.

and then, he came to salut us when he got the first goal. i knew he would. this is the pic (found pics on football365.com after the game - these are all from the game i saw today). the stand responded by singing 'john terry' to the tune of 'Valkyries'. it was great.

juliano beletti was warming up during the game and we sang his name to the guitar rift of white stripes 'seven nation army'. it made him smile so he came over and applauded us.

the game got real exciting. wigan took a corner and their first attempt was actually saved by ashley cole, and then the rebound went out to wigan who took another attempt, and with cech down, terry dives in and heads the ball out. good stuff. the next best thing was when the stadium called us to our attention and asked us to sit down, so we retaliated by standing for the rest of the game, singing louder and giving the finger when we could.

anyhoo, wigan equalized, and in the last minutes, lamps pulled through, and the matthew harding stand went bollistic. it was a great game - i wish you were there bananas.

even though they aren't having the best season, everytime i see them play they win, so i can't complain.

but now i'm home, eating a pizza express (my first one) and some gaterade. i'm still hurting and i need to be in great shape when my flatmate comes back tonight with her mom who came in to town to see wicked. so cute.
