clearly, blogging won.
last night, on my way to a (new) friend's house for dinner, i said to my flatmate 'i had the craziest day' and she sayd 'ohmygod....you always have the craziest days'.
:)
she thinks i was emitting phermones, and i think the cosmos were aligned, and perhaps had one too many squirts of sex panther on yesterday but i was on fire. first some guy gives me the eyes from wimbledon to ascot (thank god he got off at ascot because if he got off at bracknell and tried to chat me up, i'd of had to jump off the platform into an oncoming train - he was wearing a man u scarf). for the longest while i thought...snot hanging from my nose? random grey hair? did my mole on my chin sprout? what????
then i hop in the cab and there's a cutie patootie driving the car, and he starts chatting me up. he dug the fact i was a canadian chick who likes football, and he said he can overlook the chelsea situation because for me, arsenal is number 2. then he gave me his number. now let me qualify this though...he's MAYBE 24. although it was a great ego booster, that card inevitabley made its way to the recycle bin.
THEN (ya...no kidding), i get to work and see some random coworker talking on his mobile only to stop talking, take his phone away and say 'hi' to me while i walked by. ha ha ha - love it. i have no idea who he is, but whatever, it was fun.
so tell me - phermones vs. cosmos vs. bathing in some sort of scent?????
so anyway, dee and i were invited to jo's house last night for dinner - jo is a lovely gal, who's sister avril is my sister's closest friend in aberdeen. dee and i met joe several posts back when we went dancing at that nightmare called Little Italy in SOHO. we went over for an amazing meal with even better conversation, and you know its all good when we talk about food before, during and after our meal. a kindred spirit is born.
so, dee and i need to host jo and her hubby and kids next and the pressure is on. what do i make? she made a chicken & mushroom dish wrapped with puff pastery for an appie (an APPIE!) followed by fish pie (again, my favourite meal since moving here - but apparently not so with my coworkers as i found out at cakes and conversation today). all of her recipes were jamie oliver inspired...so do i dig out some oldies but goodies? perhaps a vote - let me know what you think...
- coconut shrimp and thai turkey rollups, followed by berry crumble?
- panzanella with stuffed eggplant, followed by lady finger ice cream sandwiches?
- paella with corn muffins, followed by nutella crepes?
btw - i don't know who was in charge of cakes and covo today - but i applaud them. sopressata, cheese, olives, peppers stuffed with feta. bravo! bravo!
ok...so back to the gym next week. but i promise i'll do something active saturday and sunday...i promise!
