how does a week go by so fast?

so is and dave have left and i'm still catching up and realized that...i haven't blogged in a bit. oh my. i was so studious about it when i started.

ok - so my week has been eventful, that's for certain. of course, we had the chelsea/liverpool final that gave me the sh!ts. we almost lost it twice...dear lord. but we beat arsenal on the weekend as well and wow - i'm so happy. ok, footie is out of the way.

so friday i took the day off and played tourist with is and dave again. we head to westminster abbey, which is one of my favourite places in london. there's something very humbling to stand in a church where so many historical figures are either buried or memorialized. is that a word? no pics are allowed inside so i had to find some stock photos.

the good thing about the abbey is that we finally get free headsets, and so you tour the abbey whilst listening to jeremy irons. what a great voice. i find it absolutely fascinating when you see things like the tomb of edward the confessor, and then the lady chapel with elizabeth I entombed right on top of her half sister mary...with only her effigy on the tomb. how's that for a big f**k you! sorry for the language, but really, how do you pretty up that insult. then there's mary queen of scots, buried on the other side of the chapel, given just as glorious a tomb when her son became king.

and then there's poet's corner.

afterward, we did a spontaneous dinner at st. james pub in soho, and lo and behold, we got some cheap tickets to see three days of rain. yes, i saw james mcavoy again. love him. love that play. and the cool thing was that ben kingsley was there to check the show out as well.

saturday was a lazy day in wimbledon with a proper english fry up at coal, and then is and dave head home and i made my way back into the house, exhausted.

sunday was a great warm day - and i spent it with my friend alison and her little ball of energy named nico. so fricking cute. we ended up spending the afternoon at greenwich park. it was nice to just chill out.

but here's a funny thing. i'm watching friends...its the episode where ross marries emily in london, and i have a new appreciation for the show. its the americans vs. the brits. love it.
