i'd say priscilla was queen of the stage as well.
what a fantastic show. if you love the movie, then you'll enjoy this 2.5 hour drag show. jason donovan plays mitzi, the married father of one who just also happens to be a drag queen....living many miles away from his family. it takes one phone call from his wife and he embarks on a cross-australia journey with his travelling castmates felicia and bernice...aka Adam and Ralph. i would have put money on the fact that bernie was a real transexual...i don't know how he got that cleavage but i'll be damned if it wasn't surgical....well, i'm damned anyway so who cares. rene said he'd bring the ice and i'm counting on that.
what can i say? the music was great...tina turner was fabulous, they had to stop the show because the bus broke down (and that is called irony my friends) but once it got started, the actors acknowledged the poo-poo with some crossed fingers and then launched right back into the thick of things.
the costumes were brilliant to say the least. some coming right from the movie (which was awesome) and kudos to those queens dancing in those platforms and god knows what else. there's no way i could do it. we had the cock in a frock on a rock, we had the shoe on top of the bus, and we had paradise, but never been to me.
i have to say though, i loved the three divas/muses. what fabulous voices! they carry the show since the queens lip synch to their singing, but whatever.
if you only have one night to go see a play in london, go see this. you'll have a hell of a good time.
