so much for resolutions

so i got into trouble for not blogging....sorry GLo! it's been 12 days since my last post and although i haven't done very many exciting things, i'll find something to blog! maybe in writing something down i'll remember something fun and exciting? don't hold your breath.

since i last blogged i was in the loverly town of tetbury working offsite with the energy group. we stayed at this cute little inn called the priory inn and we ended up there for dinner too as its known for its pizzas. it was quite yum...and i of course, ate my rocket (aka arugula) and parma ham (aka proscuitto) pizza. to shake things up a bit, Chris, Amy and i split our pizzas up so we could try some other flavours. amy's was interesting - spicy beef. but i digress. in a way i'm sad i didn't get to go back to the snooty fox...i wanted to see how charlie was doing.

going to tetbury was nice...it was great to escape from the corporate part of my company and hang out with the 'grassroots' office. the first day, aleksandra, adrian, chris and i were stuck in a room together and quite frankly, i had a great time (and oddly enough an extremely productive day). perhaps because the people i pinged on msn at work the most were either sitting next to or in front of me. :)

on the way back from tetbury i got stuck in swindon because someone decided to throw themselves in front of a train to end their miserable life. its amazing how often it happens in england as the trains run so fast that i figure its a quick way to go. i was so sympathetic at first, but the delays to my own life are so extreme because of them that now, we get pissed off at the 'jumpers'. not only do they delay our journey home, they traumatize the train driver for the rest of their lives. inconsiderate boobs. ok...i'm ranting and the compassionate part of me will connect again (i assume) but i was ticked because i was late in getting home as i had dinner plans with Dee at Strada on her stop over in London on her way to Dublin. it was bizarre to have dinner with Dee and Michael...since they were both my flatmates (one recently gone and one recently moved in!)

that friday was a night in cuz i wasn't feeling my best and i watched the movie away we go...interesting flick. maggie gyllenhall totally steals the movie. more importantly it was the opening ceremonies for the winter olympics and i felt so far away from home. i mean, i know that being in calgary isn't the same as being in vancouver, but i felt like i was missing out big time being so far away. i downloaded the opening ceremonies and watched the next morning. originally i was going to go to trafalgar square as they showed the highlights of the ceremonies on a big screen and then had Wii competitions (olympics of course) on huge screens for the day, but truth is, i couldn't be bothered. i figured it would have made me home sick. so instead i met up with hannah and we had lunch at patisserie valerie in covent garden.

and my valentines day was spent with kate and michael at a pub in clapham watching some six nations rugby between the italians and the english. england won of course, so in all it was a great afternoon. :)

on the 17th i finally saw avatar. it was a long wait to catch the film on the biggest screen in englad at the BFI IMAX. the movie was visually stunning and kudos to james cameron for breaking the boundaries with film. i honestly don't remember being so caught up in a film without it being the story that wrapped me up. i am always amazed at people who can create a world and a language and burts all levels of imagination. the only 'flaw' if you want to call it that was the predictable story. but hey, given the fact i was so caught up with the design of the film, it made it easier to follow not having to worry about a complicated plot.

the 18th had me at basar's place for a girlie night in. we found out our darling bas is moving to denver to be one of our company's corporate lawyers. i'm going to miss my little munchkin immensely, but as i said to her, when i return we'll be in the same time zone and dammit, i'm going to visit her! i played with her kittens (so cute - they're bengals) and i tell you it almost makes you want to buy one. almost...kate took some pics so when i can get access to them, i'll post!

friday night was one of those nights...we of course started at the stonehorse paper cow (or as i call it rock paper scissors) and from there we ended up at agenda for some dancing. i both love and cringe when i go out on these nights with colleagues. for one, its a lot of fun, but inevitably there are hook ups (of which marc and i were lucky to catch and were so shocked we had to go outside and gossip about it...haha. love it), and of course, there are those who drink waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much. (is it wrong i giggled while my flatmate prayed to the prorcelain god later that night? although i did save him a bit when i introduced him to resolve)). my fave part of the night were the random hugs from strangers, all so happy to see a teddy bear on my dress. many people asked if they could hug the teddy bear. who am i to refuse. mental note - wear this dress next night out dancing and next time show more leg. :)

on saturday i met up with my friend jo at wahaca. the food was quite lovely and not bad. it is the first decent salsa i've found in this city (aside from my own of course). if you're ever in covent garden, make sure you go there for lunch. you will have to wait in line for a table but its so worth it.

so today is now monday...and i'm sick (blah) and going to partake in some gnocchi. not sure why i'm craving it but i say hey...go for it. its not going to kill you. and besides, i need to keep my energy up. its glee night!

xoxo

and sorry for the long post...but that's what i get for slacking off!
