if you haven't seen the film - rent it. its worth it. classic simon pegg
today was the london marathon so dee, hannah and i head out to catch the action at mile 24 (just outside embankment underground station). and what i saw was so emotional. i nearly cried at least 10 times. very overwhelming.
when people hit mile 24, they're in agony, but at the same time, can't help but smile and take in the crowd because there are thousands of us yelling at them. cheering them on. telling them its not far now. we saw someone nearly faint, we saw someone throw up, we saw people hit the wall, we saw tears, we saw singing and we saw laughter. and its days like this where i just love people.
we missed gordon ramsay by a few minutes much to dee's chagrin. he's the perfect man you see.
but kudos to those folks who did it. a marathon is such a psychological game, so i am so happy for those who did it. good on ya
last night was a great night too - went to polish mafia's house for dinner and she made a feast. we had Smalec (partially double fried lard. It is often spread over bread and is an appetizer) and another spread made from cottage cheese (can't find the recipe for it), Polędwiczki wołowe (beef tenderloin often with mushroom sauce) served with barley, beetroot and herbed potatoes, Mizeria (Cucumbers in Sour Cream), and finished with a raspberry brulee cheesecake.
oh, and we had 4 different polish vodkas for our beverages. there was bison grass vodka served with apple juice (tasted like apple pie), cherry flavored vodka served with coke (tasted like a cherry coke), and herbed vodka you shoot to settle your stomach, and a 70 proof served with tea. believe it or not, i didn't even get pissed!
