having some fun and playing tourist

welcome to london brandy!

it seems i do so much more in a small period of time when someone comes to play. my friend brandy is in town for 10 days and its great to have her here. she's one of my oldest friends, we met way back in seventh grade and became best ones in grade twelve. mainly, we were the youngest in our grade so while everyone was celebrating the newfound freedom of going to the bars legally, she and i had midnight picnics in darkened playgrounds, pretending mounds of dirt were buried bodies. yes...two creative minds can be quite entertaining.

our birthday girl kate, bim and me

we started our weekend at kate's, actually, to celebrate her birthday. it was great to go there again since the first time i went i barely knew anyone and had to take a cab to get there. now, it's just super simple. brandy was a trooper for staying up as late as she did, but i think if she drank mark's 'mojito's' she would have been snowed under. he pours drinks like my mom...so you know, half a bottle for every 2 drinks. yowza. anyhoo, it was great. the birthday girls made some fondant fancies...most impressive.

camden market

we started our first full day in london at camden market where i bought the hottest ring ever. not an every day ring, but made with swarovski beads and ready to sparkle the next time we go clubbing! after a couple of hours pilaging through the market (and deciding to go back later so we can buy some clothes) we head down to oxford circus, down regent street and into picadilly/leicester square. we then traipsed down whitehall and eventually hopped on the london eye. that was pretty frickin cool.

then we head over to windsor castle, my future retirement home. what a beautiful site and the buildings are fantastic. i loved the state rooms, the doll house, the changing of the guard, and the chapel (although henry viii's tomb failed to deliver). i guess i was expecting something like napoleon's tomb but instead, all the public gets to see is a marble slab. interestingly enough, he is buried with jane seymour, charles the 1st and one of queen anne's (boleyn?) unnamed stillborn children.

windsor castle

windsor is a beautiful town and i'll definitely go back. luckily enough, my ticket is good for a whole year so i'll definitely be revisiting. besides, i need to save up to buy my dream tea set from there. the teapot costs £65. sigh. it'll be a piece by piece shopping adventure.

anyhoo, time for bed. i have to stop being a tourist for 2 days and get back to work. blah. but at least i get to sleep with my new main fella....paddington!
