went hat shopping...

yay canada...what a way to end a miserable week with a head cold! i was so excited for them and was freaking out when the US scored with 24 seconds...but crosby pulled through and all was right with the universe again.

it was real good to get back to the swing of things on monday. funny how much you can miss the socialization of the folks at work. i missed them! so on monday night i ended up at the maple leaf pub (ya, the canadian one in covent garden) with about 30 other canadians from my meet up group for wing night. and for the first time, i had really great wings! seriuosly, wings normally taste like crap in london, but the 'north american' restaurants and pubs do wings right. it was nice to make some new friends and i look forward to spending time with them.

friday night was perhaps theh piece de resistence for my hum drum week. my friend bim and her boyfriend came out with us for a drink. i hadn't met tim yet as he actually lives in nigeria, but i heard lots about him and it was great to finally meet him. so..it was me, bim, tim, kate and our new colleague andy...and tim says 'wow, well, i thought it would be just me and bim tonight...and there's something i've got to say....

and he slips a diamond on bim's hand!

oh my god! he proposed to bim in front of the three of us and bim, exhuberant, gives him a big kis and kate and i yell out 'that's a yes!'

so in true english fashion today, whilst on a day out in kingston, kate and i found some hats we thought would be perfect to wear to said wedding.


its been a while since i've been to kingston and it truly is a lovely spot...along the river, swans a plenty and we actually had some sunshine today...

before then, kate, bas and i went to captain corelli's in battersea for some authentic italian. just like the cafe's in italy you walk up to the counter, pick what you want...they heat it, you eat it. i had pollo escalope, veg and yummy orangina. it was pretty cool


anyhoo, its sat night and i'm at home tonight. a full day and i'm pooped. i'm getting old! tomorrow i plan on meeting hannah for international women's day celelbrations and denise (my new flatmate) and i plan on heading to il baretto for italian. will let you know how it goes.
