Day 2 Starts with a Feast and Ends with a...Feast

so we reach zia serafina and zio battista's house and the word has spread. we like zio's wine so we will now see it at every meal for the rest of the trip.

this is what auntie made....for lunch....

  • spaghetti vongole (clams) with homemade sauce (of course)
  • fresh salad
  • ricotta and parma cheese
  • roasted peppers
  • bread
  • wine
  • hot peppers
  • croquettes made of bread, cheese and white bait
  • home made proscuitto
  • sopressata, again home made

we walked slowly back to nonna's house (or i guess its waddled) and when we got there, she made us take a nap.

the clocks, bong ping...bong per hour, ping per quarter so imagine our nap ending at 4:30 (bong, bong, bong, bong, ping, ping). love it.

later that afternoon the ginas and i went shopping where gina bought more shoes (did i mention she bought some before we even left heathrow?) adn where we scoped out the goielli we liked at spadafora's. we'd return later as my cousin is good friends and we can get a family discount there. i wonder how much business we loria/schipani's give this guy on a yearly basis to warrant such a discount. i fell in love with a roberto cavalli dress but didn't want to fork over the money for it.

we went back to nonna's for you guessed it, another meal. another HUGE meal of steak, melanzanne (you all know my weakness with this dish), sopressata dolce e caldo and i swear to god there was food all the way up my to the back of my throat. i was too full to do anything. you could turn me into a gio pate my gullet was so stuffed. but really, my tummy was just being primed for the next day.
