FURBALL

my thursday work from home (on the 8th) was luckily a calm one...actually it was spent in a friend's home where we did work from home but on our lunchour and after work we played the new harry potter game on xbox. it was ah-may-zen.

so lucky that day was casual and calm (i'm sure the 30 plus degree heat had nothing to do with it) but i got up at 5, caught the FIRST tube out of baker street to get to gatwick airport to see my friend karen and her lovely daughter holly who landed at 6:30 am. wow, i can't believe i made it since there was so much room for error.

and thus began what must have been the longest day of holly's life. she and karen were too excited to sleep on the flight (which left at 2 pm their time) and when we got into town (aside from a bout of motion sickness on the train to victoria station) the adrenaline kicked in and we began our tour of london.

we walked down oxford street where we (shopped and spent some moolah) and tried on hats at john lewis where we also promptly got in trouble because you're not allowed to take pics whilst trying on said hats. but of course we ignored them and did it anyway. karen put on the fab blue hat that was over 300 pounds. amazing! we did the standard tour. although i must say it was much fun with karen's fear of birds and us of course walking through green park...the land of pidgeons, ducks and pelicans. she was very freaked out and holly and i were very amused.

we got to the wolsley at 3:30 where holly ate half a burger and then the 24 hour marker hit where she had been awake for a very long time for a little girl and boom she crashed. poor thing. so we head back to my flat for a much needed nap. it took a bit to wake holly up but we succeeded and were able to tempt her with leicester square and ice cream!

the next day saw us in yet another smoking hot day where we continued the tour of oxford and regents street then off to the tower of london and a groovy roof top cruise to westminster. the gals braved the tubes on their own that night where they went to see wicked. i was so proud they made it on their own!

sunday came way too fast but we had just enough time to go back to buckingham palace and green park to feed the pidgeons and ducks, and then head over to covent garden. oh karen. she loved london but to love london means to love the pidgeons.

i took the gals to king's cross to catch their train but not before visiting platform 9 3/4s. long live harry potter. it was sad to see them go but holly was ready to do some highland dancing...go girl go!
