so a little about my new flatmates...yes that is plural because i now live with 2 women and 3 cats. yes, that's 3 cats and those who know me know...how the hell did that happen and are these felines scared for their life?
so imogen is the home owner. i met imogen through my friend jo (see my dublin trip in july if you can't remember who she is) and she loves to have short term lets. the timing worked out amazingly well so i moved in before i went home in august for 2 weeks of fun and sun. the best way to describe imogen is to tell you a little bit about what she does. she's a caregiver (with aging parents she's taking care of them all the time and has just set them up in their first nursing home where they can live together again - her mom has been in a home for a while and her dad is going to join her in a new home together.) imogen is a buddhist, a vegetarian, and works with kids...so in other words, she's extremly peaceful, kind and caring. so perfect for me!
we also live with nicola who is from glasgow. she's very much like an average scot...she is very social, says what is on her mind, and can hold a pint or two. she's in event management but has just finished her law exams and is looking for some work in a law firm...but it could be tough. she hates wearing business suits. hmmmm
then imogen has 3 cats. star, lily and tsuki (pronounced sookie, like on true blood). :)
star is the 'man' of the house full of so much dignity and pride. he acknowledges your existence when he is hungry and wants to go outside. although in the past week he hurt his leg and how has a cone around his head, which has caused him to suffer a bit of indignity, hurt his pride, and he came to me when his cone was off kilter so of course, i helped him. he now likes me. he's black with a white chest and white paws.
lily is PSYCHO, but amazingly enough, she's a cool cat, get it...haha...she has grey-ish fir with these huge gigantic enourmous (yes they're big) blue eyes. and instead of mewing, or meowing, she squeaks. its so cute. i'll try to get it on video. she of course, took to me instantly. she's constantly falling on the floor and belly up when i walk by, squeaking 'you know you want to pet me' and she is absolutely DYING to get into my room. i won't let her though, so i think she has mutual respect for me. if she were a girl, she'd be samantha from sex and the city.
then there's tsuki, the rescue cat. this poor thing is afraid of her own shadow and when nicola told me she's only seen her a few times, i knew that tsuki would be the greatest challenge like, ever. she looks a lot like lily, from what i have seen of her, and her eyes are a bit off kilter. but, imogen thinks she'll come around because i emit a calm, quite vibe. sweet. i look forward to the day when tsuki doesn't bolt when i move even just an inch.
as for the house in general...its an interesting vibe. there's 3 30-40 year old women who each have a room large enough to be their bedroom, office and living room (so we don't watch tv together, which is interesting) but we congregate in the kitchen for a glass of wine or a bit to eat from time to time. its not the ideal permanent situation, but for the short term, its about the right kind of speed.
i'll post pics when i take some! xoxo
