Introducing Epsom




I've been doing some research on the town where I will be working, and here are some fast facts (mainly taken from wikipedia).

  • Epsom is a town in the borough of Epsom and Ewell in Surrey, England, to the south of Greater London

  • Epsom and Ewell was named in August 2005 by Location, Location, Location as the best place to live in the UK

  • Some famous people that grew up in Epsom include: Victoria Beckham, Alex Kingston (ER), Julia Ormond (Legends of the Fall), Nici Sterling (adult film actress - that one is for bananas), Paul Hodgsom (England international rugby union player), Jimmy Page, Ron Harris (Chelsea FC defender), Warwick David (professor flitwick) and Terence Reece (bridge player in 1913)...RANDOM!

  • Epsom is home of THE Derby - Epsom's great horse race (seconded only to Kentucky's)

  • Epsom is the birthplace of Epsom salts. However, the healthful springs are no longer used to make this salt
