yesterday was one tough day at work. everything that could go wrong, did, and it was completely out of my control. at least by 2 pm, i could start pleading with my north american coworkers to help, and help is what i got. whew - there were some life savers there! and at the end of the work day, i was sad to hear that my friend Aleksandra was not feeling well, but she gave Bim and I her tickets to the royal ballet's production of The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House. who knew this stuff was on after christmas.
i'm happy to report that aleksandra is feeling much better, and will be able to go for pints tomorrow. whew.
its funny, i was reading the post below about the coworkers, and realized i stopped too short...those were just the folks that i had fun with that day, and i realized how great the people here really are, since there are so many that have yet to be mentioned (like my friend aleksandra). i wish you could meet them all.
so...the nutcracker....it was good. the sets and costumes were unbelievable, and i can only imagine the budget for this production. and you know what they do here, that i miss about theatre at home? a red curtain goes up. why don't we do that anymore? its a shame, really.
but i'm looking forward to tonight. i'm teaching bim and my flatmate dee how to make penne a la vodka. mmmmmmm. nothing like artery clogging pasta dishes served with some amazing italian wine. sigh.
i totally need to be on that tv show here in the UK - i can't remember the name of it right now, but basically 5 strangers get together, one night at each person's house, and they vote to see who gave the best dinner party. i'd totally win.
