flowers and a fougasse

i wish i could say i had a quiet week and weekend following an exaustive yet relaxing trip to italy....but that would be boring.

this weekend in the uk is a huge weekend for music. glastonbury is on right now and so is hard rock calling. naturally, the bands playing one festival are also playing the other, but quite frankly, i think we saw the better concert.

the bands i wanted to see (and i successfully saw 2 of 3) included metric, the kooks and the killers. the kooks made my life by starting with always be where i need to be - my FAVE song of theirs ever, and during their set, alli could think of was my friend godie. she loves the kooks too! how can you not. then the killers took the stage and for the first time EVER, i understood the appeal of brandon flowers. i still think he needs to see a stylist though....he only looked good once he ditched that horrific jacket. seriously...who lets him out like that.

it was a mere five hours sleep that night though since dee and i took the train to bath for the day for a bread baking course with richard bertinet. we made fougasse, bread sticks, focaccia and quiche...yum. the day was spent learning about bread (well, real vs. the crap we refer to as mangia cake bread). we learned his working techniques, we baked the bread, then we had a feast. he kept topping up my wine glass so the ride home was intersting...i was stuffed full of great bread and a bit tipsy.

i'll go back for the next round of cookery courses as soon as i can.
