ok...so it wasn't andre agassi, pete sampras or michael chang...but my fifteen year old self got to realize a dream of going to wimbledon. yay!
we queued up for the 5 pm entrance and paid £12 to get onto the grounds. we then ran up to the resale booth (where people who are done for the day hand in their tickets that then sell for £5 with all proceeds going to charity). we bought for court 1 because last year's men's doubles winners were on the court. we saw Daniel Nestor (a Canadian!) and Nenad Zimonjic defeat Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach.
but before that we were on the hill to watch the dying minutes of seeing serena williams kick some random girls' ass....the williams sisters always win so why bother watching women's tennis? i'm feeling the same way about federer, but this week, andy murray has the brits all in a tizzy. hopefully he can pull it off.
we were able to scam two free seats to centre court but as there were three of us, we had to tag team and by the time it was my term there wasn't much to see...oh well. i'll catch centre court next year. i can't imagine getting tickets for tomorrow's match with murray and we're in the semi finals now so getting tix will be close to impossible.
no worries though. tomorrow is canada day in trafalgar square and i already have plans!
carlos took pics of the day at wimbledon so i'll post when i get my hands on them...yay, i went to wimbledon!!!!
xoxo
poor aleksandra...every time we watch a sporting event its me against her...and in this case a canadian versus her beloved polish athlete and again my guy comes out on top. sigh.
