so this has been an emotional week for me as today is my dad's birthday (he'd of been 82 today - holy cow). i'm normally not so melancholy as a birthday is all about celebrations but i guess the sad feelings have been compounded by the loss of my auntie teresa on tuesday the 19th.
firstly, i am extremely thankful to have been able to see her at christmas - it was touch and go last summer so i'm glad she pulled through and i was able to say goodbye. and although she was a shell of her formal self, her spark was still twinkling in her eyes. she called us 'matelena' and asked how 'you people' were doing. its something i will most definitely adopt. time to carry on some marra tradition.
and i know i've been homesick before, but saturday was hard...although i had a great time at the rugby game, deep in my heart, i wanted to be at home to say goodbye to a lovely lady. that being said, i'll be home for a visit this summer, and promise to bring some flowers to pretty up her resting place.
