its always nice to come home

i forgot how heavenly my bed is...but lucky for me, it didn't take long to remember.

saturday was such a great day. the kids didn't know i came home early, so it was a real treat to open the door to the house and have them react to seeing me. jonah was funny - he was so shocked all he could say was 'hello' in his abnormally deep voice (seriously, when he hits puberty his voice is going to be so deep), then he had a huge grin and gave me the biggest hug. after that, he was glued to my side for the rest of the day. i love that little guy. madison took a second or two to realize i wasn't gina and then she screamed out DODO. she was delighted (and well, let's face it, so was i). it was a proper home coming.

as was the -28 degree temperature...and that was the daytime temperature.

so, suffice it to say, my first two days in calgary were spent indoors with the family, and a quick jaunt with darlene and perry to cafe beano. while there i realized that's where i need to buy hoho some coffee beans. nevermind the roastery! i forgot about that place and i can't believe i could. i remember going there often with either erika or deb, and we'd order the chocolate espresso shake in the summer.

monday was unbelievably cold. i got a ride into the city with gina and ran quickly (remember, -28) to the overground/LRT station, only to find myself waiting for 15 mins for the next train. seriously. i thought i was going to die on that platform. it was so cold....but the warm reception i got when i finally made it to the office was worth it.

the new office in calgary is quite nice, and the goils decorated the marketing area as 'candyland'...past themes included a very barbie christmas, a living room with tree, presents, fireplace, and tv showing xmas movies all day long, and last year they did a snowy winter wonderland. this year was real good - there are candies and gingerbread men and houses everywhere. so cute. it was great to see everyone.

since then, my week has consisted of going out for lunch and dinner. my stomach is going to explode. i've hit up wicked wedge with Patti, open sesame with my ming-a-ling gals, loungeburger with the marketing team, oh canada with nexen, vietnam with jyoti and gail, bear and kilt/original joes with the marketing team, and marcellos with the cousin. my stomach needs a break. i'm thinking no food until tomorrow sometime should suffice.

although, i've also been a snacking demon with everyone filling me with stuff you can't get in the UK. so i've had cheezies, fudgee-o's, turtles, timmies (double double thanks very much), london fogs, kernels kettle corn, barq's, rickard's white, bison burgers, and so much more. seriously...too much food.

and i haven't even gotten to my mom's house yet.....
